TransTRACK Promotes AI Adoption to Strengthen Road Transport Safety Management Systems at Ministry of Transportation–Organda Forum in Medan

Medan, 12 June 2026 – The persistently high number of traffic accidents in Indonesia highlights the urgent need for a more proactive and technology-driven approach to road safety. In response to this challenge, TransTRACK emphasized the importance of leveraging Artificial Intelligence (AI), telematics, and data analytics to support the implementation of the Public Transport Company Safety Management System (SMK PAU) during the Road Transport Safety Management System Strengthening Socialization Program organized by the Directorate General of Land Transportation of the Ministry of Transportation in collaboration with the Indonesian Land Transportation Organization (DPP Organda) at LePolonia Hotel & Convention, Medan, on Thursday, 4 June 2026.

The event served as a collaborative platform for regulators, transportation operators, insurance industry representatives, and technology providers to strengthen the culture of road transport safety in Indonesia.

Enhancing transportation safety systems has become increasingly critical given the high number of road traffic accidents that continue to occur across the country. According to data from the Indonesian National Police, a total of 156,253 traffic accidents were recorded nationwide in 2025, resulting in 235,789 casualties, including 21,717 fatalities. This means that, on average, nearly 60 people lose their lives every day due to road accidents. In addition, PT Jasa Marga recorded 1,119 accidents on its toll road network in 2025. Most incidents involved passenger vehicles (44.5%) and trucks (42.18%). The data also revealed that human factors were responsible for the majority of accidents, accounting for 86.8% (971 incidents).

During the forum, TransTRACK introduced its Safety Intelligence solution, which integrates AI-powered Driver Monitoring Systems (DMS) and Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) to help transportation operators identify risky driving behaviors, reduce accident risks, and improve compliance with operational safety standards.

Ledi Hari Setiawan, Chief Operating Officer (COO) of TransTRACK, stated that today’s transportation safety challenges can no longer be addressed solely through conventional approaches. According to him, the high accident risk caused by human factors requires technological support capable of detecting potential hazards before incidents occur.

“The implementation of a Public Transport Company Safety Management System requires not only regulations and management commitment, but also technology that can provide real-time visibility into operational risks. DMS technology enables companies to detect various high-risk conditions, such as driver fatigue, distraction, mobile phone use while driving, and failure to wear seat belts. Meanwhile, ADAS features provide early warnings for potential collisions, unsafe lane departures, and insufficient following distances,” said Ledi.

According to Ledi, the adoption of AI-powered safety technologies is becoming increasingly relevant as the transportation industry demands more proactive, data-driven monitoring systems.

“Safety should not only be measured by the number of accidents that have been handled, but also by how many accidents can be prevented. This is where technology serves as an enabler, helping transportation companies build a stronger and more sustainable safety culture,” he added.

As a transportation and logistics technology company powered by the Internet of Things (IoT), Artificial Intelligence (AI), and Big Data, TransTRACK continues to develop solutions that help organizations improve safety, operational efficiency, fleet productivity, and business sustainability.

To date, TransTRACK’s solutions have been deployed across more than 200,000 vehicles serving transportation, logistics, mining, plantation, manufacturing, and other strategic industries throughout Indonesia. The company has also expanded its presence internationally, reaching markets in Malaysia, Singapore, Australia, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar.

The event is expected to further strengthen the implementation of Minister of Transportation Regulation No. 85 of 2018 concerning the Public Transport Company Safety Management System (SMK PAU). Through its participation in this forum, TransTRACK hopes to encourage broader adoption of data-driven safety technologies across the transportation industry, helping reduce accident rates, improve driver safety, and create a safer road transportation ecosystem for the public.
