Jakarta, 18 March 2025 – Jakarta is set to once again electrify the global motorsport scene as it welcomes the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship for the Jakarta E-Prix 2025 on June 21, 2025, at the Jakarta International E-Prix Circuit (JIEC) in Ancol. As one of the key stops on the official Season 11 calendar, this highly anticipated event will mark the debut of the Gen3 Evo in Indonesia, following its global introduction earlier in the season in Sao Paolo, Brazil. For the first time in Jakarta, fans will witness the Gen3 Evo in action—a groundbreaking machine capable of accelerating from 0-100kph in just 1.86 seconds, outpacing even Formula 1 cars.

Since its inaugural race in 2022, Jakarta has been a key witness to Formula E’s rapid technological advancements, from the Gen2 era to the revolutionary Gen3 and now, the Gen3 Evo. Each generation has brought groundbreaking innovations—from extended battery life and enhanced regenerative braking to increased top speeds and all-wheel drive capabilities. In 2025, Jakarta fans will see firsthand how Formula E has evolved into the most advanced electric racing series in the world.

The Gen2 era saw the introduction of electric race cars capable of reaching 335 horsepower with a 52kWh battery, allowing cars to complete a full race without mid-race vehicle swaps. This was followed by the Gen3 in Season 10, which pushed the limits further with a 600kW dual-powertrain system, 322 km/h (200 mph) top speed, and 40% energy regeneration through braking, eliminating the need for hydraulic rear brakes.
Now, in Season 11, the Gen3 Evo is set to redefine performance standards once again. With an increased power output of 400kW, all-wheel drive for the first time in Formula E history, and an aggressive new aerodynamic design, this is the fastest-accelerating Formula E car ever built.
Developed by specialists from Formula E and the FIA, the Gen3 Evo represents a significant leap forward in electric motorsport innovation. The Gen3 Evo also features softer iON Race tires, developed by Hankook, allowing for faster warm-up and superior peak grip. Additionally, sustainability remains at the core of the design, with 3D-printed front wing endplates, wheel fins, and wind deflectors made from circular, more eco-friendly thermoplastic materials developed by SABIC. These enhancements not only optimize aerodynamics but also improve straight-line speed and overall energy efficiency.

The Jakarta E-Prix has played a pivotal role in the ongoing transformation of Formula E, serving as a stage for technological breakthroughs that push the limits of electric racing. As the championship moves forward, the evolution of Formula E cars continues to align with the series’ core mission: pioneering sustainable motorsport while delivering unparalleled excitement on the track. Fans in Jakarta and around the world can expect another electrifying chapter in Formula E history as the Gen3 Evo makes its much-anticipated race debut in 2025.
More than just a race, the Jakarta E-Prix 2025 reinforces the city’s ambition to become a global leader in sustainable mobility. As part of the Jakarta 500 initiative, this event serves as a key milestone in the city’s journey toward becoming one of the world’s Top 20 Global Cities, aligning with its rapid economic and infrastructural growth.
